Overlooking Disordered Eating

Food has always been a source of energy, comfort, and something that brings us together, but what if it becomes more than that to us?
Many people suffer from eating disorders without even realizing it. An eating disorder is any unhealthy relationship with food, such as loss of appetite, excessive exercise to the point of exhaustion, or eating when experiencing negative emotions without coping with them properly. There are many more symptoms correlated with experiencing an eating disorder.
Even I have suffered from an eating disorder without knowing it. Most people with eating
disorders are between 12 and 25 years old, with 12.5% of them under 18, which is a significant percentage. One of the reasons a person might not realize they have an eating
disorder is that they feel, for example, that they are not "anorexic" enough or “skinny enough” to believe that they have this disorder. This comes with awareness, so just ask yourself: Do I give food more thought, stress, and importance than it deserves? Do I truly have a healthy relationship with food?
Always remember that you are not defined by your physique, weight, features, or how small your waist is. You are simply you, with your thoughts and personality, not your looks.
