What is Mirror Messages?
Mirror Messages is EmpowerED's first ever special project! It was launched in honor of National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (NEDAW) and was created because EmpowerED's team wanted to make recovery resources more accessible for those who may be grappling with an ED or body image.
These cards are designed by our very own team, and every message is carefully and meaningfully written by our trained volunteers. We distribute these messages, featuring a QR code linking directly to our online resources (such as our anonymous Hotline Forum), to community centers such as schools; libraries; gyms; dance studios; and more. All cards are placed in bathrooms/locker rooms—areas where people may pause to scrutinize their appearance.
Our goal is to help uplift silently struggling people with these Mirror Messages. We believe that a simple, heartfelt message written by someone who is able to empathize can make a difference—no matter how big or small.
